ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Well I have said it, but I don't think I followed it for myself. ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN ONE DAY. This has to be something that I really do understand but still fall back into! I need some feed back on this one. How much sacrifice does one have to commit to see progress in their projects. Maybe that question is reaching to far into the left field to ever get an answer that will suit me!  Let me ask this, is it wrong to want to do better, have a different lifestyle that doesn't reflect what your regular circumstances have been?  Is happiness important or overrated, im asking this because if it is important why don't the unhappy people change. I have a friend and I don't think he'll mind me mentioning his name as a matter of fact I'll keep him anonymous. Most of you know him he is a well known poet, i'll say that! We were having breakfast while conversing about life. In the midst of my comedic fest I noticed that he wasn't perceptive to my funnies and I was like wtf is going on here! But then I seriously started to tune into his emotional state this brotha was a wreck! I asked what was wrong, he replied everything. Whoa, he went into a spill that had to be like 2 hrs in a nut shell no happiness to be found in his world anywhere! How in the hell do we avoid that place.....Im sure as hell not going there anytime soon but have sympathy  for him and those who reside in that place regularly.  Do some of us like the attention that comes with this type of emotion, the what's wrong's, are u okay, can I help you, give me a hug. Am I an asshole for bringing that into play. Im not real needy so I don't know that's why im asking? My reasoning for bringing him into this blog is that he couldn't see his blessings for his own self torment or that he is a blessing.  His happiness was right there everyday he just needed to change his mind state and  get off that auto pilot misery im a poet in pain shit. Okay that bothered me because if that's the end results of living out your dreams then damn it we don't have much to look forward too! Ahhhhhhh revelation, number 1, (side bar, thank you holy spirit)  there is a such thing as trying to do to much in one day. Pace yourself friends.  There is a lot to be done on your journey and it can be enjoyed to the fullest if you take it one day at a time.

  Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)                             Sympathy
    I KNOW what the caged bird feels, alas!
        When the sun is bright on the upland slopes;
    When the wind stirs soft through the springing grass,
    And the river flows like a stream of glass;
        When the first bird sings and the first bud opes,
    And the faint perfume from its chalice steals —
    I know what the caged bird feels!
    I know why the caged bird beats his wing
        Till its blood is red on the cruel bars;
    For he must fly back to his perch and cling
    When he fain would be on the bough a-swing;
        And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars
    And they pulse again with a keener sting —
    I know why he beats his wing!
    I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
        When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,—
    When he beats his bars and he would be free;
    It is not a carol of joy or glee,
        But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
    But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings —
    I know why the caged bird sings!
